Q: What is this platform about?
Agricultural Buying Groups, Ag Co-ops and informal buying clubs are as old as farming themselves. Farmers recognise that buying together can get them better terms for their agricultural inputs.
Consolidation amongst agricultural input suppliers has accelerated in recent years and their sheer size and concentration have contributed to a shift in buying power away from farmers and the organisations that directly represent them.
Our platform is a digital solution, allowing farmer-facing businesses to trade more efficiently and nimbly.
Q: How does it work?
Think of us as a virtual shopping mall for the farming industry. We have space for as many buying organisations as there are in the world. At its simplest level, we offer these organisations digital sales channels to sell their products to their members. Being digital means 24/7 trading, time saving and less admin resource.
Each buying group sets up its own shop on the FutureFarm platform, using their brand, content and pricing. Next they invite their members. The whole process is seamless.
Q: Who is FutureFarm and why do I have to join their platform?
FutureFarm is a technology platform, designed for businesses that source agricultural inputs to farmers. We help them get online so they can sell their products at the lowest possible price. It’s simple: we’re good at technology, they’re good at sourcing great deals and servicing their members. Together we can bring prices for agricultural inputs down.
Q: What can I buy on FutureFarm?
Our system is optimised to sell all key agricultural input commodities, including fuel, fertiliser, crop protection, livestock feed, seeds. Your buying group can sell any of these product lines through our system.
Q: Who does the buying and loads the prices?
Your Buying Group trade desk loads prices and is responsible for every other aspect of the transaction. Our platform simply offers a new and more convenient way of engaging with them to buy the things you need to run your farm.
Q: Does it cost more if I buy on FutureFarm?
It should cost less. We take cost out of trading commodities, and you should see that reflected in the price you pay.
Q: How does FutureFarm trading technology make prices cheaper?
Farming inputs like Red Diesel, Fertiliser, Crop Protection, Seeds and Feed are commodities and therefore demand-driven economies of scale matter hugely when it comes to negotiating with suppliers and distributors. Farmers and the organisations that help them procure these inputs start with a disadvantage because they are a relatively fragmented group of buyers in a globally organised and tightly consolidated supply chain.
FutureFarm uses the internet to engage farmers and buying groups. We offer buying groups the ability to aggregate member demand through price optimisation tools like Collective Deals and Target Deals. It all serves the same purpose – through FutureFarm online aggregation, buying desks find themselves in a better negotiating position with their suppliers.
Q: What does FutureFarm cost?
FutureFarm is free to farmers. There is no limit on transactions and FutureFarm does not charge farmers commission. Please contact us if you wish to discuss further.
